Strategy: A quick 4m’s Audit you can do in half an hour.

Welcome to The Growth Edit — your honest, practical dose of marketing clarity, sent fresh to your inbox every Monday.

This is your space to step out of the day-to-day ‘busy-ness’ and take a smarter, more strategic look at how your marketing is working (or not). Each week, I’ll share one actionable idea, framework or focus area to help you make better marketing decisions, cut the Googling, and grow a business that works for you - not the other way around.

Whether you're launching something new, fixing what’s not working, or just trying to show up consistently, this is here to give you one step forward, every single week.

What Does your Business Really Need?

Everywhere I look right now, everyone is busy. So many things on the to-do list, such little time to get everything done.

Let’s slow down for a sec, to ask the all-important question.

👉 Is my strategy actually working?

You might be feeling it too – a bit overwhelmed, a bit reactive, and wondering if all the effort you’re putting in is actually leading somewhere.

So this week’s edition of The Growth Edit is about something that strikes fear into a lot of you, but you’ll probably know by now that it is my most favourite topic.

So * deep breath * and let’s take stock.

Auditing your strategy – in 30 minutes or less.

No spreadsheets. No marketing MBA required. Just half an hour, a note pad and maybe a cuppa.

👀 Quick Insight:

Businesses that regularly review their strategy are 60% more likely to stay aligned with their goals and achieve better results (KPMG, 2023).

It’s not about being perfect. It’s about making sure your daily actions match where you actually want to go.

✅ Improve What You’ve Got: Run a 4Ms Audit

Here’s how to check if your strategy still fits in under 30 minutes:

🧭 Mission
Are you still clear on why your business exists and who it helps?
→ Try: “We do [this], to help [who], so they can [benefit].”

👥 Market
Are you still attracting the right people?
→ Look at who's buying or engaging – and who's not. Why do you think that is? Is something out of line?

💬 Message
Are you saying the same thing everywhere, or are your emails, site and socials all telling different stories?

Have a quick look at your social, email and website. What is it saying about who you are, and what you do? Is it really clear (not for you, but your ideal client?) In a world where people are constantly seeing marketing messages, they need to identify yours as the most relevant, important and aligned with what they need, right now.
→ Keep your message consistent, and clearly aligned.

📣 Mix
Where are you showing up — and is it still working?
→ Check which channels are pulling their weight, and which ones are just draining your time, confidence and energy. Forget likes here, which ones are driving clicks, enquiries and sales? Use your website metrics here too.

🔍 What Most People Miss:

It’s easy to get caught up in what you *think* you should be doing.
But smart marketing is about doing less, better.

A 30-minute audit gives you confidence, direction, and time back.

So you're not writing, posting, emailing, or building without a plan.

🎯 Your Micro-Challenge This Week:

Set a 30-minute timer. Pick one or more of the 4Ms and review it:

→ Is your mission still relevant and important to you?
→ Are your best customers still who you thought they’d be?
→ Is your social posting aligned with your clear brand message?
→ Is your email list growing? (And if not, do you need a new opt-in?)

Small tweaks over time = big improvements.

That’s it for this week.

No tome. Just one smart step toward a clearer, more aligned business. And if you're reading this on Bank Holiday Monday, don't forget to take some time for yourself too.

See you next Monday
